I know…they all say it. New Years Resolutions never, if rarely, stick. I agree for the most part, but I’ve recently given up a bad habit and now know I have the will power and commitment to stick with these (2) New Years Resolutions.
My first resolution is to cut down on the gossiping.
Definition:
gos·sip
1 adialect British : godparent b: companion crony c: a person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others2 a: rumor or report of an intimate nature b: a chatty talk c: the subject matter of gossip
If you know me at all, you know that I have an issue with gossip. Or should I say…had an issue? I strongly believe I’ve cut down on it, but will work harder to completely eliminate gossiping from my repertoire. I was recently accused of gossiping and thought I’d improved over the last year or two, but obviously not. I think my mistake may be calling it “venting” or my opinion on someone’s immoral behavior, as opposed to considering my chatty talk…gossiping.
One of my guilty pleasures is watching a TV show called, “Gossip Girl” (a girl has to get her fix somewhere). Check out the Gossip Girl Blog for more info. Anyway, I was watching an interview with the cast members and found these comments about gossip to be a bit revealing:
1) The word gossip carries so much with it…it’s like a guilty pleasure
2) Gossip…that’s what everyone thrives on
3) Everyone loves it but hates it at the same time
4) It’s addicting and you have to keep finding out whatever’s next
5) It sets you up for a lot of drama
So the moral of the story is...please let me know if you catch me gossiping and tell me to stop right away ;)
I hung out with a few friends last night and had a great time. Check out my pics on my Flickr site on the left side bar of this blog. Oh, also check out the pics above. If you Refresh your browser, you'll see a different set of ten. My second Resolution will be updated in the next couple of days.
